Dan recently graduated from his Master's studies in Nutrition & Behaviour at Bournemouth University with distinction, after having completed a BSc in Psychology at Leeds Beckett University, for which he was awarded first class honours. He is also a registered Associate Nutritionist with the British Association for Nutrition (AfN).
In February 2018, Dan will continue his professional development through a 12-month Functional Medicine Health Coach Certification run by the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (https://www.functionalmedicinecoaching.org/) in association with The Institute for Functional Medicine (https://www.ifm.org/) and certified by the International Consortium for Health and Wellness Coaching (ICHWC - http://ichwc.org).
MY APPROACH TO NUTRITION & HEALTH COACHING
I am passionate about applying a natural and holistic approach whose foundations are based in functional/integrative nutrition and lifestyle management. This enables a patient-centred approach through which I work to empower clients to address the root causes of bodily imbalances in order to enhance their overall physical and mental well-being. I am incredibly lucky to have had the unique opportunity to undertake degrees in both Psychology and Nutrition & Behaviour. Marrying the knowledge from these inseparable disciplines with my experience in down-to-earth coaching allows me to work with individuals’ holistically, helping them to achieve and maintain longterm improvements in their health.
In my practice as a nutritionist and health coach, I work closely with clients to conduct an initial in-depth health assessment. This allows us to diagnose the most appropriate, personalised approach to nutritional and lifestyle management that will work to address their individual health goals. After the initial assessment and the design and implementation of specific nutrition and lifestyle interventions, continuous support is available through online, telephone and face to face follow up consultations to assist with implementing and managing these behavioural changes.
I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients. A few examples include individuals wanting to improve sports performance, those with type-2 diabetes or obesity that have benefited from metabolic therapy (such as low-carbohydrate and ketogenic diets), those with autoimmune symptoms (such as skin conditions, asthma, allergies) or digestive issues (IBS, food intolerances, Crohn’s), and parents of children with learning or behavioural differences (such as ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia & Autism). Often, I work with individual's who have far less complex health concerns, such as many clients who just wish to increase energy levels and optimise their overall health and performance.
